The John McEnroe Tennis Academy in partnership with the Johnny Mac Tennis Project, a nonprofit foundation, is seeking to identify and support the next generation of talented and highly motivated young tennis players in the New York City area and beyond. 

On Saturday, June 20th, players, ages 10-16, are invited to attend an open tryout to be considered for scholarships for the 2026-2027 year at JMTA's flagship location: SPORTIME Randall’s Island.

  • 8:30 AM-9:30 AM:  Check-in & registration

  • 9:30 AM-10:00 AM:  Introduction and Court/Station Assignments

  • 10:00 AM-12:00 PM:  Technical, Tactical and Athletic Player Assessments by the SPORTIME/JMTA/JMTP Selection Committee and Coaching staff

  • 12:00 PM:  Tryout concludes

Important Information

  • Proper athletic attire, including footwear, is required. Participants will have access to restroom facilities. Water will be available on court, and food and beverages will be available on-site at our Cafe. 

  • SPORTIME Randall’s features a full-service pro shop including professional stringing services.

  • Current SPORTIME/JMTA students are not eligible to participate in the Tryout. In select cases, students may be considered for need-based scholarship evaluation with a recommendation from a SPORTIME/JMTA coach. Families who believe this applies should contact Ryann Cutillo at rcutillo@jmtpny.org. 

  • The SPORTIME/JMTA/JMTP Selection Committee will notify selected applicants by the end of June. JMTP scholarships are awarded based on both athletic evaluation and demonstrated financial need. Families will be required to submit financial documentation to complete the eligibility review process.

It will be utilized by SPORTIME and/or JMTP solely for the purposes of determining the nominee's eligibility for a SPORTIME/John McEnroe Tennis Academy or JMTP Scholarship. Waiver:  By submitting this form, I agree that I am the parent or legal guardian of the above named participant and that we will abide by all rules and regulations which now exist or which may be hereafter adopted or amended by SPORTIME and JMTP.
